Ingredients Needed:

  • 2 cups coarsely ground Colombian coffee (5 ounces)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Ice, whole milk, and sugar, for serving

How To Make Vanilla Cold-brewed Iced Coffee?

  1. Using a coffee cone and coffee filter: Combine the coffee with 1.9 liters / 64 ounces of cold tap water in a jar or pitcher, cover, and refrigerate overnight. The next day, pour the mixture through a large coffee cone lined with a coffee filter until all the coffee has drained through. Discard the grounds. Stir in the vanilla extract. Fill tall glasses halfway with ice, pour in the cold coffee, and stir in milk and sugar to taste. Serve ice cold.
  2. Using a CoffeeSock: Place the CoffeeSock in the jar and fold the top over the neck. Spoon the coffee into the sock, then add 240 ml / 1 cup of cold tap water to wet the grounds. Let it sit for 60 seconds. Tie the sock as directed, submerge it in the jar, then fill the jar with cold tap water, close the lid, and refrigerate for 12 hours. Remove the CoffeeSock, squeeze out the coffee, discard the grounds, and stir in the vanilla extract. Fill tall glasses halfway with ice, pour in the cold coffee, and stir in milk and sugar to taste. Serve ice cold.

Recipe Tips:

  • Use coarse coffee grounds: Your coffee should be ground coarsely. Fine grounds can make the coffee too bitter and affect the final taste.
  • Steep for at least 12 hours: Don’t shorten the steeping time. Letting it sit for 12 hours gives the coffee its full flavor.
  • Strain carefully: Slowly strain the coffee through your filter to prevent coffee grounds from getting into your drink.
  • Adjust sweetness and milk: Add milk and sugar to taste. Start with a small amount and adjust based on your preference.
  • Chill your glass: Keep your iced coffee cold longer by chilling your glass in the freezer for a few minutes before pouring.

How To Store Leftovers?

  • Refrigerate: First, let the leftover Vanilla Cold-Brewed Iced Coffee cool to room temperature. Once cooled, transfer it to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
